Foster needed Secondhand Mutts courtesy post

Breadcrumb is a two year old long haired Dachshund mix. She probably has some terrier in her. She is about 15 pounds, up to date on shots and spayed. Breadcrumb was found abandoned and walking on a residential urban street. One of our volunteers spotted her and was able to catch her after she ran up to the porch of a house. We belive she was living at this house as evidence by the feces and urine on the porch and scratches left on the front door. We knocked on the door to locate the owner but there was no answer. Then, after visiting three neighboring homes we were told that the little dog had been wandering for ten days and nobody lived in that house anymore.

Breadcrumb spent the night in a foster home until she could be admitted. She was scared but got comfortable in a few hours. She is good with dogs and was very friendly with the cats in the house. She actually slept with the cats!

We are currently seeking a foster home for Breadcrumb while she recovers from surgery. She appears to have had a home and is a sweetheart so we’d love for her to have even a temporary place to call home.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Adoption Fee: $150
Microchipping is availble for $25 and includes owner registration
