Dyngus Day returns to Gordon Square Arts District for a fun, authentic celebration of Polish-American culture
DJ Kishka hosts second annual Dyngus Day in collaboration with neighborhood bars and restaurants.
(Cleveland, OH – February 28, 2012) – The second highly anticipated Cleveland Dyngus Day will be held Monday, April 9th, 2012 from 12pm – 2am in the Gordon Square Arts District. DJ Kishka, Scene Magazine’s Best Club Dj 2010 and Cleveland Magazine’s Best DJ 2011, has partnered with neighborhood bars and restaurants, including Happy Dog, Reddstone, The Parkview Nite Club, YOLO Wine Bar, XYZ the Tavern, Stone Mad Pub and Spice Kitchen + Bar to host the event.
The celebration drew 1,500 people in 2011 and expects upwards of 5,000 participants this year. “If I have to sum Dyngus Day up in two words they would be: It’s Go Time,” says host and promoter DJ Kishka. “This is going to be a great time for all! I performed at Buffalo’s Dyngus Day in the years past and thought – This is a celebration that has to happen in Cleveland!’”
Dyngus Day events will begin at Stone Mad at noon, then move to Parkview where DJ Kishka and Big Chuck will crown Ms. Dyngus at 5:00pm. After the crowning, all Dyngus Day participants will join the Accordion March up 58th Street from 5-6pm, where they will find a fine selection of polish beer and cuisine at restaurants within the “Polish Triangle,” including Spice Kitchen + Bar, XYZ the Tavern, YOLO Wine Bar, Reddstone, Happy Dog, The Parkview and Stone Mad. Trolley service will run between bars throughout the evening.
DJ Kisha will also be spreading Polka cheer throughout the day at most every venue in the “Polish Triangle.” For a full schedule please check our official Cleveland Dyngus Day website at ClevelandDyngus.com.
Dyngus Day is open to the public – all cultural affiliations are welcome. As Norm Plonski of The Parkview Nite Club stated, “Everybody loves to Polka!”
We would also like to send an invitation out to all accordion players to come join our Accordion March up West 58th Street. Please meet us at The Parkview at 4pm, the March starts at 5pm.

ABOUT DYNGUS DAY
Dyngus Day, also known as Wet Monday, is Easter Monday in Poland. It marks the conclusion of Easter and the often restrictive time of Lent with Polish music, beer and cuisine. The world’s largest organized Dyngus Day celebration is in Buffalo, NY, where DJ Kirshka performed in 2010 and was inspired to bring the event back to his hometown of Cleveland. In 2011, over 1,500 people, including local celebrities like Big Chuck, welcomed Cleveland’s first Dyngus Day with great fanfare.
